The retirement savings shortfall has massive implications for state and local budgets and the long term economic security of Coloradans.\n\n\n\nIn 2020\, the Colorado General Assembly passed SB20-200 which created the Colorado Secure Savings Program within the state's Department of the Treasury. \n\n\n\nWhen the program is fully implemented\, employers with five or more employees\, who have been in business 2+ years\, and who do not currently offer a retirement plan to employees will be required to register and enroll employees in the program and handle contributions through their payroll process.
